Landscape Fictions Based on True Stories is a research through the world of artificial landscapes in the Netherlands and engineered mountainous slopes of Tyrol – its present day and its historical becoming.
The historical and contemporary practice, meaning, form, rationale and poetry of man-made landscapes are looked at through different viewpoints. On one hand, we are guided by artistic view on landscape, starting from land-art and coming to contemporary landscape photographic fictions. On the other hand, we use an ‘objective’ view and investigate historical and contemporary technologies and techniques of landscape cultivation and change. The two different views, the artists’ projection and the pragmatic landscape practice, often converge and coincide – realities and fictions come together.
